Use the Farm and Town as the two early orientation anchors. Town South contains the park, Lakefront, apartment building, and several quest houses; Town North West contains the Library, bus stop, Edwin and Ellie's homes, and the Alice–Josh duplex; Town North East contains the Police Station and a Sewer entrance. The Town Outskirts route leads to Molly's Workshop, the Farm, Ranch, and Old Woods approach.

The Mall, Sewers, Greystone Estates, Old Woods, and Catacombs open in layers through tasks and named keys. Reaching a landmark does not prove every interior door is ready. Read the lock prompt, identify the task owner, and use the route table below instead of trying every key.

This is a navigation guide, not a numbered treasure-map solution page. If an inventory map shows a drawing and asks for a dig tile, use the treasure-map locations guide.

Town South is the first place to learn vertical interiors. The Apartment Building has more than one floor: Adrian is associated with the first-floor apartment, while Akira is on 2F. A marker at the building can point to the correct structure without identifying the floor.

Use the park as another anchor. Abby gives Shopper-Bopper in Town South Park, and Pumpkid-related events can also use the area. The Lakefront is the fishing hub with Herb and several fish-related tasks. Dave's house and other Town South houses lead to separate basements, locks, and quest chains.

When a Town South objective is unclear:

  1. Check whether it names Park, Lakefront, Apartment, House, or Basement.
  2. Enter the correct building before following the map marker again.
  3. Use stairs and interior doors to verify the floor.
  4. Read the speaker name or door prompt.
  5. Return to the journal before searching another district.

The Akira mystery guide covers Apartment 2F and Time to Investigate. The Adrian quest guide covers Apartment F1 and the Mall Hallway Key.

The northwest bus stop is the best residential anchor. Edwin lives in the left-side unit with the lit porch. Ellie's house is the dilapidated building with boarded windows on the other side of the bus-stop area. Alice and Josh share a duplex farther along Town West, with Alice on the left and Josh on the right.

The Library is a major service and quest landmark in this district. Celeste is associated with it, and Professor Dayton's historical research connects to the Stone Tower. The Church is nearby and becomes the Sunday allegiance destination for the Old Gods.

Use visual features rather than counting buildings from a screenshot:

  • Lit porch: Edwin.
  • Boarded windows: Ellie.
  • Shared duplex: Alice on left, Josh on right.
  • Large public building: Library.
  • Sunday allegiance destination: Church.

Schedules can move residents into Town, Mall, Saloon, Church, Farm, or other areas. A home is the first search point, not a promise that every resident stands inside all day. The character directory lists alternate locations.

Welcome to Elderfield sewer waterway with stone walls and a narrow route

The Police Station anchors Town North East. An Uptown Sewer entrance sits behind it, making the station a reliable surface landmark for underground travel. The Sewers have multiple segments and gate routes; identify the entrance used so the same corridor is not mistaken for a new area.

Blorph is associated with the Sewers behind the Police Station. The Gatekeeper route uses three named Gate Keys, while ordinary Skeleton Keys and other quest keys belong to different locks. The Gatekeeper second-key guide covers that chain.

Another sewer clue uses the phrase “smelly place where time is told.” The sewer clock clue guide follows that route. Do not use its clock location as a general map label for every Sewer floor.

When underground, record three anchors: entrance, nearest gate or ladder, and the direction of the last surface exit. A screenshot of a stone corridor without those anchors is difficult to reuse.

Find Molly's Workshop, Farm, and Ranch

Follow the Town Outskirts path toward the farm. Molly's Workshop lies on this route and is the home of the Forge. Continue to the Farmhouse, fields, and adjacent Ranch area.

The Farmhouse is where Farmer Hans begins core farm progression and Chef Elroy's recipe shop becomes relevant. Crawford sells tools and seeds. The field itself holds crop plots and placeable farm objects. The Ranch is a separate service area with its own opening progression.

Do not collapse the Workshop and Farm into one interaction point:

  • Molly handles Workshop, Forge, and equipment progression.
  • Hans handles core farm task progression.
  • Crawford handles tools and seed stock.
  • Elroy handles recipe stock after task unlocks.
  • Ranch services belong to their own area.

The Molly quest guide covers Workshop access; the Hans guide covers farm task unlocks.

The Mall is a public shopping area, quest dungeon, office complex, and mine network. Use the parking lot and food court as surface anchors. A large share of navigation errors comes from assuming that “Mall” means one floor.

Public Mall and food court

Begin with public shops and the food court. Burgers Burgers is tied to A Fast Food Fiend. The food court also contains the door toward Mall F1 back hallways.

Mall F1 back hallways

Adrian gives the Mall F1 Hallway Key when Tentacle Cleanup begins. Use it on the food-court back-hallway door. This access does not automatically open every office, mine, or deeper Mall route.

Mall Mines and deeper access

Molly's The Elder Gem directs the player toward mines in the Mall food court. Other tasks, follower rooms, mysteries, and bosses use different floors or variants. Read the active task and floor label before assuming one mine entrance reaches every objective.

Akira's investigation route includes several Mall mysteries according to community map evidence. Check the journal after each site; a strange prop does not necessarily count.

Greystone Estates is a multi-floor residential complex with a lobby, stairwells, numbered rooms, Laundry Room, and hostile areas. Sam's home is recorded as Apartment 1 on the first floor. Flesh Girl is associated with the Estates, but reaching the building is not the same as reaching the enemy's room.

Use room numbers and floor labels. If a key opens one apartment, do not assume it opens every resident room. Preserve named keys until the prompt matches.

The Flesh Girl boss guide covers the enemy, documented stats, and rewards. Enter with combat supplies; Greystone is not only a residential stop.

Welcome to Elderfield Old Woods path between dark trees and grass

The Old Woods begins beyond its entrance near Tanner's cabin and expands through clearings, campsite, mill, giant-statue variants, mines, bus-stop routes, and deeper sections. Random generation or variant selection can change a cabin or mine room, so a screenshot may not match every visit.

Important task owners include Ansel at the campsite and Adrian through Tree Branch Cleanup. Ansel's An Adventurous Spirit tracks Old Woods mysteries and can reward the tier-two Forge upgrade at its first stage. Akira's Time to Investigate should not be assumed to count those same sites.

The Old Woods walkthrough handles blocked routes and access details. When lost, return to a named anchor—entrance, campsite, mill, statue, or mine—rather than navigating from identical trees.

The Catacombs are reached through the route below Dave's House according to captured map material and extend across multiple floors. Their progression uses named keys, breakable walls, hammers, wire cutters, God follower rooms, and task-specific passages.

Adrian's Tree Branch Cleanup rewards the Catacombs F2 Key. Other passages require their own item or task. A Basic Skeleton Key does not replace the F2 Key, and a hammer used on one sealed route may be unrelated to another bone obstruction.

Before descending:

  • Carry HP and MP recovery.
  • Confirm the target floor.
  • Bring the named access item.
  • Leave inventory space.
  • Preserve a save before a one-way or consumable interaction.

The Catacombs walkthrough covers floor progression and hardened-bone access. The Old Gods guide lists follower rooms but does not replace the dungeon route.

Match locked routes to their real prerequisites

Locked routeDocumented prerequisite
Mall F1 back hallwaysMall F1 Hallway Key from accepting Adrian's Tentacle Cleanup
Workshop openingComplete Helping Molly with one Copper Ore
Equipment upgrading at anvilComplete The Elder Gem, craft and place Lapidary Table
Catacombs F2 routeCatacombs F2 Key from Tree Branch Cleanup
Gatekeeper doorsThe corresponding named Gate Key
Treasure digOwn a Shovel and interact with the correct tile; area access may require another key
Old Woods secondary routesTask, bus-stop, mill, mine, or variant requirements named by the current objective

When a door will not open, copy the exact prompt. “A key is needed” is not specific enough in a game with Mall, Gate, Skeleton, Mine, Slimy, and floor keys.

Find NPC homes and services efficiently

Plan errands by district rather than by character list. In Town South, combine Abby, Akira, Adrian, Lakefront, and house tasks. In North West, combine Library, Edwin, Ellie, Alice, Josh, and Church. In North East, combine Police Station and Sewers. On the Farm route, combine Molly, Hans, Crawford, Elroy, and Ranch services.

Schedules can break the route. If a resident is absent, finish service errands first and check the alternate location later. Do not sleep immediately; evening Saloon or Sunday Church movement may explain the absence.

Carry only task items for the planned district. A full inventory makes it harder to receive keys, blueprints, maps, and rewards.

Orient without a quest marker

Use three levels of notes:

  1. Region: Town South, Mall, Old Woods.
  2. Anchor: park, food court, mill.
  3. Interior detail: Apartment 2F, back-hallway door, second breakable wall.

A useful note reads “Town North West → bus stop → left lit porch,” not “go left.” Direction changes with entry point, but the anchor remains visible.

When a route video uses a different map variant, copy the anchor sequence rather than every turn. This is particularly important in mines and Old Woods rooms.

Fix a map or navigation mismatch

The map's job is to reduce uncertainty, not to claim every room is available from the first day. Anchor the region, identify the access layer, and let the current task and lock prompt decide the final step.

Build a personal fast-travel route

Activate bus stops and other travel conveniences when the current task opens them, then organize errands around the closest unlocked stop. The captured Old Woods task data records that the Local Jogger's Club route can open access to the east Old Woods bus stop and the west-of-Mill area. That is a task reward, not proof that every stop is active from the beginning.

When a new stop appears, test both arrival and return before relying on it for a timed task. Note which district loads, which side of a barrier it reaches, and the nearest visual anchor. Fast travel reduces walking but does not bypass an interior key or floor requirement. A Mall stop still leaves the food-court hallway locked without Adrian's key, and an Old Woods stop does not complete Ansel's investigation stages.
