Catch Razorfish by fishing in Campsite with Dragonfly bait. Lugworm can also attract it, but only during the Fishing Contest. Outside that event, use Dragonfly; changing fishing spots while keeping the wrong bait does not solve the bait requirement.
Keep your catch if you need Razorfish Soup, Baked Crab, or the Red 1 painting in the Art Gallery. These uses compete for the same fish, so decide what you need before selling a catch.
Fish at Campsite With the Correct Bait

| Requirement | What to use |
|---|---|
| Water location | Campsite |
| Ordinary bait option | Dragonfly |
| Event bait option | Lugworm, during the Fishing Contest only |
| Other bait | Will not attract Razorfish |
The most direct preparation is to take Dragonfly bait to Campsite and use it at a fishing spot. Dragonfly is consumed when used, so bring more than one if you want several attempts or enough fish for a larger recipe.
- Set your target: one fish for Red 1, two for soup, or five for Baked Crab.
- Obtain Dragonfly bait before the trip.
- Travel to Campsite and choose a fishing spot.
- Use Dragonfly as the bait.
- Keep the required number of Razorfish before selling any extras.
The location and bait are specific to this species. For casting, timing, and the general fishing controls, use the fishing tutorial. Repeating those controls here would not help you choose the right Razorfish setup.
Dragonfly is also usable in other fishing areas, including Lakefront and Radio Station. That does not make those areas the Razorfish location: head to Campsite for this catch rather than assuming every water where the bait works has the same fish pool.
Obtain Dragonfly Bait
Dragonfly can come from a Bait Pack (Tier 2). When the pack produces Dragonfly, the quantity is 4–6, and the listed chance is 33%. A pack is therefore a possible way to build a bait supply, not a guarantee that one pack will contain Dragonfly.
Other recorded sources include:
- The Old Woods - Cabin (3), after defeating Mimic v3.
- Chamber of Daeus, as a world item.
- Bug Spawners, including ones in Catacombs floors 1–3 and Sealed Chamber (2F).
- Bonus loot from the Old Woods Shrine after fights in the Old Woods, at difficulty 1 or higher.
These are alternatives, rather than instructions to complete every area before fishing. If you already have Dragonfly in your inventory, you can focus on the Campsite trip. If your next practical source is in the woods or catacombs, follow the Old Woods route or Catacombs access guide for that area's separate prerequisites.
Bug Spawners choose among 30 possible things, so finding one does not ensure a Dragonfly result. Shrine reward pools also change with difficulty. Neither is a fixed number of attempts you can count on to supply the bait.
Keep Lugworm for the Fishing Contest
Lugworm is a conditional option. Its Razorfish use is limited to the Fishing Contest. Outside the contest, switching to Lugworm is not an alternative to obtaining Dragonfly.
Check the event condition before troubleshooting your fishing location. If you are at Campsite with Lugworm on an ordinary day, correct the bait first. If you are looking for a different species, keep the species-specific guide separate: Ghost Flounder has its own conditions and should not be treated as an interchangeable target.
Before committing another cast, check that you are in Campsite and have selected the correct bait. Those checks address the two requirements for this species.
Reserve Fish for Cooking
Razorfish is a cooking ingredient in two dishes. Both recipes accept any quality of Razorfish, so a Regular catch still counts toward the material total.
Razorfish Soup at the Cooking Pot
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Razorfish, any quality | 2 |
| Bitter Herb | 1 |
| Red Mushroom | 1 |
Learn the dish by using Recipe: Razorfish Soup, then cook it at a Cooking Pot. Two fish alone do not unlock the dish. Check both the recipe and the remaining ingredients before spending more bait on a fishing trip.
Baked Crab at the Oven
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Bonefish, any quality | 3 |
| Razorfish, any quality | 5 |
| Rock-Dweller, any quality | 2 |
| Celery, any quality | 1 |
| Bones | 5 |
Baked Crab is known from the start and is made at an Oven. Despite its name, the ingredient list includes several different fish and Bones. Having five Razorfish is only one part of completing the dish.
If your plan includes both one soup and one Baked Crab, reserve 7 Razorfish in total. Add another fish if you also intend to supply the painting described below. This is an inventory planning total, not a promise about how many casts will be required.
Give One Razorfish to the Red 1 Painting
The Red 1 painting in the Art Gallery requests 1 Razorfish. Set that fish aside before cooking a stack for food. If you caught fish primarily for the painting, you only need that single requested fish rather than the larger soup or Oven recipe amounts.
The painting and cooking recipes need different quantities. Choose your reserve before processing or selling the fish so that a completed cooking batch does not leave your gallery plan short.
Check Quality and Sale Value
Razorfish has four quality tiers:
| Quality | Sell value |
|---|---|
| Regular | 30g |
| Silver | 40g |
| Gold | 50g |
| Void | 60g |
Quality is rolled when the item is produced, and Luck improves the odds of a better tier. The listed recipes accept any quality, so you can reserve lower-value fish for cooking while deciding what to do with better-quality extras.
Tanner's gift response to Razorfish is neutral, with the same response across quality tiers. Use the gift guide when your goal is social progress; catching a rare-quality Razorfish does not turn that neutral response into a liked gift.
