Load plain assets lets ordinary PNG images and OGG audio take priority over the game’s encrypted originals. When the requested plain file is absent, the author describes a fallback to the encrypted original. This is a resource-loading tool for PC Welcome to Elderfield, not a complete portrait or audio replacement pack.
The project is by ChainsawQueen1 and targets the RPG Maker MZ / NW.js game. This guide follows the author page reviewed October 15, 2026; it has not independently tested every asset path, game update or combination of resource mods.
Decide whether this is the right dependency
A resource pack may need a way to load ordinary images or audio. This plugin supplies that loading behavior. It does not make an unused new file appear automatically: a game event or another mod must actually request the asset.
Before installing, read the resource pack’s own requirements. A pack built for another loader or a different folder layout may need a different route. The Mods overview separates direct plugin registration from loader-based packages and language installers.
Keep the scope narrow for the first test. Choose one replaceable asset with an exact documented path. If you change a portrait, a sound and another plugin simultaneously, an unexpected result becomes harder to attribute to one file.
Register the plugin without replacing the whole list
- Close the game and open the installation directory containing Game.exe, index.html, img, audio and js.
- Back up js/plugins.js outside that directory.
- Copy ElderfieldPlainAssets.js into js/plugins/.
- Add the author-provided ElderfieldPlainAssets entry once at the bottom of the existing $plugins array, before its closing bracket.
- Place it after the other plugins, including ModLoader_Injector, as the author instructs.
- Preserve existing entries and the JavaScript array syntax, then launch the game.
Do not replace the entire registry with a list copied from a different game build. This installation adds one plugin; removing existing registrations changes more than the intended loader behavior. If the game fails immediately after the edit, restore the known registry and compare the new entry and separator first.
Match the original resource path
The author gives Window.png taking priority over Window.png_ as an example. Match spelling, capitalization and subfolders exactly. Keep the original encrypted file in place so that the fallback remains available.
Back up any existing plain file before replacing it, too. The encrypted original protects a different layer: it cannot restore a previous community replacement that another pack has overwritten.
For a controlled test, inspect the intended scene before and after installing one asset. Confirm that the visible or audible result comes from the exact file you changed. A successful title-screen launch alone does not test an image or sound requested later in the game.
Preserve encryption settings and distinguish file conflicts
Keep data/System.json and its encryption settings and key unchanged. The author states that the encrypted originals still require them for fallback. This plugin is not an instruction to disable game encryption or rewrite the system file.
Two packs replacing the same ordinary path still need a deliberate choice of which file to keep. This guide does not establish an automatic conflict merger. Record the winning file and retain both originals outside the installation if you intend to compare them later.
Roll back one change at a time
Close the game before moving resource files. Restore the previous plain asset or remove the new replacement so the documented fallback can be tested. To remove the plugin itself, reverse its added script and registration, taking care to preserve later unrelated entries.
A rollback of program files does not promise to undo save progress made during testing. Keep the protected save separate and verify the scene that originally exercised the replacement. If the game stops before reaching that scene, use the splash-screen crash checks and identify the last registry or file change rather than treating every launch failure as a missing image.
