Akira is in the Town South Apartment Building, 2F and gives Time to Investigate. The task tracks cumulative Mystery investigations at one, three, five, and seven. Return to Akira after each milestone to collect the staged rewards instead of waiting until all seven are complete.
Captured task data lists the rewards as a Defense Flask of the Gods at one, a Luck Flask plus Stone Shield at three, Attack and Agility Flasks plus two random Potions at five, and Staff of Insight at seven. Community route evidence indicates the intended seven are in Town, Mall, and Sewers; Old Woods mysteries belong to a separate investigation route and may not advance Akira's counter.
Find Akira in Town South

Akira's recorded home is Apartment Building 2F in Town South. The captured character schedule keeps Akira in the Apartment Building in morning, afternoon, evening, and night across the week. That makes the building the correct search anchor, but floor matters: a map marker at the building does not tell you that the character is on the second floor.
Use this route:
- Travel to Town South.
- Enter the Apartment Building rather than an adjacent house or Adrian's unit.
- Use the interior route to reach 2F.
- Read the speaker name before accepting a task.
- Open the journal and confirm Time to Investigate.
The Welcome to Elderfield map guide separates the apartment floors and nearby Town South landmarks. If a door is locked, check the current objective and building entrance before searching the Mall for an unrelated key.
The available evidence does not support a weather override, gift table, marriage route, or alternate home for Akira. Do not borrow schedules or relationship rules from the nine main candidates. Akira's reliable role on this page is the investigator and milestone task giver.
Time to Investigate milestones and rewards
| Total mysteries investigated | Recorded reward |
|---|---|
| 1 | Flask of the Gods (Defense) |
| 3 | Flask of the Gods (Luck), Stone Shield |
| 5 | Flask of the Gods (Attack), Flask of the Gods (Agility), 2 random Potions |
| 7 | Staff of Insight |
The wording uses totals, so the milestones are cumulative. You do not need one new set of three after the first reward, then another set of five. Watch the current journal counter and return whenever it reaches the next threshold.
The task table labels rewards by stage. Finish Akira's dialogue after each stage and inspect inventory. A counter reaching three does not guarantee the Stone Shield is already present if the reward conversation has not happened. Likewise, continuing to investigate without collecting a stage can make it harder to diagnose which hand-in failed.
Do not drink a Flask of the Gods automatically. Read its current description and decide whether the permanent or temporary effect, if any, matches the character build. The captured source identifies the flask labels but this page does not invent their exact effect implementation.
Identify mysteries that count for Akira

A Mystery is an interactable location or event tied to Elderfield's investigation system. Game-mechanics evidence says mystery die rolls are influenced by Luck and can have hidden zero and seven results. Bathing regenerates mysteries along with monsters. Those facts explain why a previously used site can reappear, but they do not prove a regenerated interaction will add another unique entry to Akira's cumulative task.
Community map evidence draws a useful boundary: Akira's seven countable investigations are in Town, Mall, and Sewers. It says Old Woods mysteries and News Channel events do not count for this task. Because that boundary comes from a route guide rather than an official task description, confirm progress in the journal after every new site.
Use a simple log:
| Region | Site description | First interaction completed | Akira counter changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Town | Record the landmark in your own words | Yes/No | Before → after |
| Mall | Record floor and nearby shop or room | Yes/No | Before → after |
| Sewers | Record entrance and nearby feature | Yes/No | Before → after |
The purpose is not to invent formal names. It prevents revisiting the same site, shows which region produced credit, and distinguishes an unsuccessful mystery result from a non-counting category.
The Old Woods guide is still useful for Ansel's separate mystery task, but those investigations should not be used to diagnose Akira's counter first.
Build a reliable seven-mystery route

Start with accessible Town sites, then move into the public Mall, and add Sewers sites as access permits. Do not force a locked route merely because a guide lists a mystery beyond it. Akira's task can be completed as world access expands.
Town investigations
Town is the safest place to learn the interaction pattern because it is close to home and services. Walk through each accessible district methodically. Interact with unusual objects or locations, read the result, and check Time to Investigate before moving on.
If the counter does not change, note whether the site was already used, whether the interaction reached a result, and whether the task was active. A mysterious-looking prop is not necessarily a registered Mystery.
Mall investigations
The Mall contains public areas, back hallways, offices, and a mine. Community route material says four of Akira's countable mysteries are in the Mall, but access differs. Begin with public floors and do not assume Adrian's Mall F1 Hallway Key is required for every one.
When a door blocks progress, identify its key rather than trying every key in inventory. The Adrian quest guide explains the Mall F1 Hallway Key from Tentacle Cleanup. That task may open more of the building, but it is not listed as a prerequisite for accepting Time to Investigate.
Sewers investigations
The Sewers have multiple entrances and gate routes. Record which entrance you used so a repeated underground corridor is not mistaken for a new site. The Gatekeeper key guide covers the named Gate Keys, while the sewer clock clue handles a separate puzzle.
Do not count a locked God Shrine automatically as an Akira Mystery. “By the Gods” is another task that asks for two God Shrines and belongs to Pete, the Laundry Ghost. A location can be mysterious without advancing the same journal entry.
Handle mystery die rolls and Luck
The game-mechanics record says Luck influences die rolls and specifically identifies Mysteries as one of the few events with hidden zero and seven outcomes. That means a strange result is not automatically a bug or a failed Akira task.
Before interacting, preserve the current journal counter. After the result, check whether the count changed. Avoid claiming that a particular Luck value guarantees credit; no reliable threshold is present in the evidence. The Luck Flask from Akira's three-mystery reward may support later chance-based systems, but this page does not claim it changes the task counter or forces a desired result.
Bathing can regenerate mysteries. Use that for repeated exploration only after distinguishing site availability from unique task credit. A regenerated site may provide another interaction while Akira's task still expects a different location. The journal counter is the deciding signal.
Collect each reward safely
Return to Apartment Building 2F at one, three, five, and seven confirmed totals. Leave inventory room and finish the whole dialogue. Then compare the reward with the recorded stage.
At stage one, look for the Defense Flask. At stage two, check both the Luck Flask and Stone Shield. At stage three, check Attack and Agility Flasks plus two Potions; the Potion results are recorded as random, so do not promise one exact pair. At stage four, confirm Staff of Insight.
Do not sell, consume, or equip a reward before confirming the whole stage arrived. A clean inventory screenshot makes it easier to report one missing object. The Staff of Insight name suggests a relationship to Insight, but inspect its actual current stats before building a combat plan around it.
The combat guide explains how equipment and damage type interact with an enemy's documented weakness without turning an item name into an unsupported stat claim.
Fix a Time to Investigate counter that is stuck
| Symptom | Check first | Safe next step |
|---|---|---|
| Akira cannot be found | Town South Apartment Building 2F | Check the correct floor and speaker name |
| Task did not start | Dialogue completion and journal capacity/state | Finish the conversation and reopen the journal |
| Mystery interaction gives no credit | Task active, site new, result completed, region | Test another Town/Mall/Sewers site |
| Old Woods sites do not count | Community-documented task boundary | Use Old Woods sites for Ansel, not Akira |
| Counter reaches a milestone but reward is absent | Return conversation incomplete | Speak to Akira and finish the stage hand-in |
| Random Potions differ from a video | Stage-three rewards are random | Verify the fixed flasks and accept the rolled Potions |
| Staff of Insight absent at seven | Final hand-in and inventory space | Preserve save, clear space, repeat the conversation once |
| Site reappears after bathing | Mystery regeneration | Do not assume it provides new unique credit |
If the counter stalls at six, compare the site log instead of sweeping the whole map again. Identify which region has fewer confirmed credits and search accessible unexplored rooms there. A route that lists seven locations can still be wrong for the current build, so pair every step with the journal change.
Keep Akira's route separate from other investigations
Elderfield contains several investigation-shaped tasks. Pete asks for God Shrines. Ansel counts Old Woods Mysteries for An Adventurous Spirit. Akira asks for cumulative Mysteries in the early Town–Mall–Sewers set. A News Channel event may look like a mystery but community route evidence says it is excluded from Akira's task.
Use the task title as the owner of progress. When a site changes Ansel's counter but not Akira's, the game is tracking two scopes rather than losing credit. When a God Shrine advances By the Gods, return to Pete, not Akira.
The Old Gods guide explains shrines and Sunday allegiance. It should not be used as a substitute list for Time to Investigate.
Preserve evidence when the task genuinely fails
Record the game build, Time to Investigate counter, region, exact landmark, mystery result, whether the site was previously used, and the counter before and after. Capture Akira's dialogue and reward inventory at each hand-in. This shows whether the problem is site credit or stage reward.
Avoid resetting the whole save after one non-counting site. The supported route is cumulative and can be completed as access expands. Akira remains in the Apartment Building, so the hand-in point is stable even when the exploration route is not.
The dependable answer is: find Akira on Town South Apartment 2F, investigate new Mystery sites, verify the journal at one, three, five, and seven, and collect each reward stage. Favor Town, Mall, and Sewers for this counter; keep Old Woods, God Shrine, and news investigations attached to their own task owners.
Use the milestone loop instead of a seven-site sprint
The safest route is four short loops, not one long sweep. Investigate one confirmed Town site, return for the first reward, then add two new sites for the three-total milestone. Add two more for five and another two for seven. Returning at each threshold confirms that the counter, dialogue, and inventory all agree before the next area becomes more complicated.
Each loop should end with three receipts: a journal total, Akira's completed hand-in, and the recorded reward. If one is missing, stop there. Continuing from three to seven while the stage-two dialogue is unresolved can hide whether the later problem is a missing site or a skipped reward flag.
Use the region log to avoid bath-regenerated repeats. Mark a site “counted” only when the journal number changes. Mark it “seen” when the interaction happened without credit. That distinction prevents a failed or out-of-scope site from being treated as one of the seven. It also lets a future correction say exactly which Town, Mall, or Sewers site did not count in the current build.
Do not spend the milestone rewards during verification
Keep the new Flask, Shield, Potions, or Staff in inventory until the whole stage is checked. If an item is consumed or equipped immediately, a later screenshot can make it look as though it never arrived. Once the reward is confirmed, inspect its current description and decide whether it supports the next mystery route. None of the recorded rewards is required to make the following counter increase, so the task should not be treated as a forced equipment sequence.
