Build a Drying Rack and use prepared inputs
The Drying Rack processes prepared meat, wet herb bundles, and Thick Hide. Craft it at the Workbench with 25 Wood, 1 String, and 1 Copper Bar. Its crafting recipe is known from the start; the rack's eleven processing conversions are item inputs rather than separate recipes you must learn.
A conversion takes 10 in-game days on the Farm or Ranch, or 7 days in the Farmhouse Basement. The basement is therefore the useful location when you have access to it and want to finish the same product sooner. The resulting item does not change merely because you placed the rack downstairs.
For the most common collection objective, Yellow Room painting 3 at the Art Gallery needs six finished products. Raw preparations and wet bundles are intermediate ingredients. Keep the completed output for the Gallery instead of delivering its unfinished version.
Crafting materials and valid placement
| Requirement | Amount or behavior |
|---|---|
| Wood | 25 |
| String | 1 |
| Copper Bar | 1 |
| Crafting station | Workbench |
| Recipe access | Known from the start |
| Valid locations | Farm, Ranch, Farmhouse Basement |
| Selling the furniture | The rack cannot be sold |
Crafting the furniture and preparing food are different steps. The Workbench makes the Drying Rack itself; the Prep Table makes the named raw or wet items that go into it. Interacting with the placed rack opens its processing menu.
The location restriction matters before you arrange a workshop. Farm, Ranch, and Basement are the listed placement options. A place that looks suitable as a kitchen is not automatically a supported location for this piece of furniture.
The rack cannot be sold, so there is no direct furniture sale price to compare against its usefulness. Its practical value is completing products you intend to eat, use in another recipe, or submit to a collection.
Ten days outside and seven days in the basement
All eleven listed conversions use the same duration: ten days normally, reduced to seven in the Farmhouse Basement. The basement cuts three days from each conversion, a 30 percent reduction in the listed waiting time.
For a collection that still lacks multiple products, this affects when the outputs become available. It does not remove their ingredient requirements. A wet bundle still needs its herbs and mushrooms; a raw sausage still needs its meat and seasonings.
| Rack location | Listed processing duration | Difference from outdoors |
|---|---|---|
| Farm | 10 days | Standard duration |
| Ranch | 10 days | Standard duration |
| Farmhouse Basement | 7 days | Three days sooner |
Record the day you insert an item and the location where the rack is placed. Those two facts distinguish a normal waiting period from an expectation based on the basement bonus. There is no need to assume a product failed merely because an outdoor rack has not completed on the seventh day.
The times are in-game days. They are not a real-world ten-day cooldown, and the word “cellar” in processing descriptions refers to the Farmhouse Basement bonus here.
All eleven Drying Rack conversions
Every row below takes ten days in normal placement or seven days in the basement. The input's exact name is the useful check when the processing menu does not offer what you expected.
| Insert this item | Collect this finished product |
|---|---|
| Simple Jerky (Raw) | Simple Jerky |
| Simple Sausage (Raw) | Simple Sausage |
| Spiced Jerky (Raw) | Spiced Jerky |
| Spiced Sausage (Raw) | Spiced Sausage |
| Cured Simple Steak (Raw) | Cured Simple Steak |
| Cured Spiced Steak (Raw) | Cured Spiced Steak |
| Mana Sausage (Raw) | Mana Sausage |
| Cured Mana Steak (Raw) | Cured Mana Steak |
| Basic Herb Bundle (Wet) | Basic Herb Bundle |
| Potent Herb Bundle (Wet) | Potent Herb Bundle |
| Thick Hide | Rawhide |
There are eight meat conversions, two herb conversions, and one hide conversion. This is why putting an ordinary mushroom, loose meat, or Bloody Skin directly into the rack is not the same as using its supported input.
The meat names also distinguish separate products. Spiced Jerky is not Simple Jerky, and Cured Spiced Steak is not Cured Simple Steak. Those differences matter to Yellow Room painting 3, which asks for the spiced versions.
The hide row is especially easy to misread. The rack produces Rawhide, not Leather. If your goal is Leather, continue with the Leather processing guide after collecting the correct intermediate material.
Build the Prep Table for the input stage
The Prep Table is crafted at the Workbench with 10 Stone, 20 Wood, 5 Bitter Herb, 5 Red Mushroom, and 1 String. Its recipe is known from the start. Build it when you need to turn loose ingredients into the preparations accepted by the rack.
The table and rack each require their own construction materials. Combining their construction costs gives 45 Wood, 10 Stone, 2 String, 1 Copper Bar, 5 Bitter Herb, and 5 Red Mushroom. This total covers the two stations only; it does not include ingredients for any processed product.
Bitter Herb has several competing cooking uses. Set aside the five needed for the Prep Table before spending the whole stack on Bitter Gel or a cooked meal, particularly when building both stations for the Gallery.
Prepare the six Gallery products

Yellow Room painting 3 needs one of each of the following: Spiced Jerky, Spiced Sausage, Cured Spiced Steak, Basic Herb Bundle, Potent Herb Bundle, and Rawhide. Prepare the input first, then complete the matching rack conversion.
| Desired output | Preparation to make | Ingredients for one preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Spiced Jerky | Spiced Jerky (Raw) | Mystery Meat 3; Salt 1; Bitter Herb 2; Red Mushroom 2 |
| Spiced Sausage | Spiced Sausage (Raw) | Mystery Meat 5; Mystery Steak 1; Salt 2; Bitter Herb 2; Common Mushroom 2; Red Mushroom 2; Green Mushroom 2 |
| Cured Spiced Steak | Cured Spiced Steak (Raw) | Mystery Meat 8; Mystery Steak 3; Salt 5; Common Mushroom 5; Red Mushroom 5; Green Mushroom 5 |
| Basic Herb Bundle | Basic Herb Bundle (Wet) | Bitter Herb 5; Red Mushroom 5 |
| Potent Herb Bundle | Potent Herb Bundle (Wet) | Common Mushroom 5; Bitter Herb 5; Red Mushroom 5; Green Mushroom 5 |
| Rawhide | Thick Hide | Bloody Skin 2 |
The herb bundles do not become finished merely because the Prep Table has crafted them. The word Wet identifies their remaining drying step. Likewise, the meat preparations still carry Raw until processing is finished.
For the hide chain, use two Bloody Skin to make Thick Hide at the Prep Table. Insert that Thick Hide in the rack, wait the appropriate duration, and collect Rawhide. Delivering Bloody Skin to the Gallery's separate body-parts painting does not complete the Rawhide requirement.
One complete batch shopping list
If you want all six Gallery outputs, the following totals combine their preparation ingredients once each. They exclude the construction costs for the rack and Prep Table.
| Ingredient | Total for the six preparations |
|---|---|
| Mystery Meat | 16 |
| Mystery Steak | 4 |
| Salt | 8 |
| Bitter Herb | 14 |
| Red Mushroom | 19 |
| Common Mushroom | 12 |
| Green Mushroom | 12 |
| Bloody Skin | 2 |
For a new workshop, add the Prep Table's five Bitter Herb and five Red Mushroom to those totals. That gives 19 Bitter Herb and 24 Red Mushroom for the table plus one full collection batch. Add the furniture's Wood, Stone, String, and Copper Bar separately.
This shopping list does not imply that all six preparations fit into one rack at once. The available processing details establish inputs and durations, rather than a simultaneous batch capacity. Use the menu's actual available slots when arranging your own production.
Finished herb bundles have uses beyond the Gallery
A finished Basic Herb Bundle is used in Herbal Salve, together with 1 Secret Sauce and 5 Crushed Bones. That recipe uses one Basic Herb Bundle. The salve restores 75 HP and 35 MP.
This gives you a reason to produce another finished bundle after saving the Gallery's copy. A wet bundle is still the intermediate preparation, so finish it before planning a recipe that asks for the dry product.
Secret Sauce belongs to a different processing chain. Having enough herbs for a bundle does not remove the salve's sauce and Crushed Bones requirements. Count the complete recipe before treating the bundle as a ready healing item.
Check the input, location, and finished item
If the rack does not accept an item, compare its name with the eleven-input table. Loose ingredients belong to the preparation step. A food item that is already finished is not the raw preparation listed in that conversion.
If processing appears slow, check where the rack is placed. Seven days applies to the Farmhouse Basement; Farm and Ranch use ten. If the Gallery still shows a missing item, compare the finished name against the painting rather than assuming any jerky or sausage is interchangeable.
For a minimal first collection run, make the six preparations, complete their rack conversions, and retain one of each output. That covers the painting without requiring the simple and mana meat products that the same machine can also process.
