Bats become useful to your farm through a Bat Box. Learn Blueprint: Bat Box, craft the box at a Workbench, and place it on the Farm or Ranch. It produces Bat Guano on a four-day cycle without watering or animal tending. Fruit trees affect the amount produced, but a larger orchard should not be treated as a guaranteed fixed yield.

If you are looking for guano for a painting or fertilizer recipe, start with the box rather than searching for a bat enemy. The relevant production chain is Bat Box → Bat Guano → Compost Bin fertilizer. Five guano also belong to the Yellow Room's first painting.

Craft and place a Bat Box

The crafting recipe requires a learned blueprint. Simply collecting the four materials does not replace that unlock. Once you have used Blueprint: Bat Box, open the Workbench recipe and assemble the following materials.

MaterialNeeded for one box
Copper Bar4
String2
Leather2
Wood15

Leather can become the awkward part of this small recipe if you already have wood and copper. Follow the Leather crafting guide for that ingredient's own production chain, then return to the Bat Box recipe. This avoids spending the remaining copper on another project while the leather requirement is still unfinished.

Place the completed box in either the Farm or Ranch. Those are the supported placement areas; a basement arrangement used for other processing furniture is not the listed placement for this object. Put it somewhere you pass regularly so collecting guano becomes part of your existing route.

No verified blueprint seller or task reward is established here. If the recipe is absent, the useful check is whether Blueprint: Bat Box has actually been learned. A displayed item value alone does not establish that a particular shop sells its blueprint.

Collect guano on the four-day cycle

Once placed, the box produces Bat Guano every four days. It needs no watering and no routine animal care. Your next action is to revisit the box and collect the product after its production cycle, rather than carrying a Watering Can or Milk Bucket to it.

Fruit trees increase the production amount. That gives an orchard an additional use alongside fruit harvesting, but it does not turn every tree into a separate guano generator. The box remains the collection point, and a greater number of trees is an influence on yield rather than a promise that each collection will give the same number.

For a first box, use the trees you already intend to grow. Buying a large orchard solely to chase a particular average is difficult to justify without checking what your own farm actually produces. Keep the material cost of the box, the cost of tree seeds, and the use you have for the guano as separate decisions.

If you need ten guano for fertilizer, count the material in storage before starting the craft. A four-day production interval does not tell you how many cycles your current setup will need. Collect and update the remaining requirement from the amount you actually receive.

Turn Bat Guano into fertilizer

The Compost Bin uses guano in four fertilizer recipes. Each recipe below makes five fertilizer, and all use ten Bat Guano. The difference is the accompanying material and, for level two, an additional mushroom.

Fertilizer batchBat GuanoOther materialsOutput
Dense Fertilizer Lv110Crushed Bones ×55
Dense Fertilizer Lv210Crushed Bones ×5; Common Mushroom ×25
Fancy Fertilizer Lv110Salt ×55
Fancy Fertilizer Lv210Salt ×5; Green Mushroom ×25

All four fertilizer recipes are known from the start and accept Bat Guano of any quality.

Choose the recipe before gathering its companion ingredients. A supply of Salt supports the Fancy line; a supply of Crushed Bones supports the Dense line. Moving from level one to level two still requires the appropriate mushroom, so extra guano by itself does not satisfy the upgraded recipe.

These are Compost Bin recipes. Carrying the same ingredients to a Workbench does not make fertilizer appear in the Bat Box crafting menu. The Workbench makes the producer, the box supplies the guano, and the Compost Bin consumes it.

If you are planting Watermelon, reserve the fertilizer materials you intend to use before donating or gifting the guano. A long crop cycle and a recurring guano cycle can run alongside each other, but one does not automatically complete the other.

Welcome to Elderfield yellow Room painting 1 with Bat Guano in the lower-right slot marked five
The lower-right slot requires five Bat Guano; the other five products also require five each.

Yellow Room painting 1 requests five Bat Guano. It is one part of a larger husbandry collection, alongside Honey, Large Milk, Large Egg, Cloudberry, and Large Goat Milk. The box solves the guano requirement; it does not provide the other five products.

Keep the five donation copies separate from a fertilizer batch. Starting a ten-guano recipe can consume stock you intended to take into town, leaving the painting unfinished even though the box is functioning normally. Check the Art Gallery collection guide to see the complete painting before preparing your visit.

The collection quantity is exact, while production amounts can vary. You do not need to predict a fixed number of cycles to prepare a donation: keep collecting until the five copies are in hand, then take the finished material to the gallery.

Gifts and surplus guano

Blorph likes Bat Guano. Tanner is neutral, while Molly and Sam hate it. Guano is therefore a specific gift option, not a safe universal present for the people you meet in town. Save it for Blorph only if that relationship is your intended use and your immediate crafting or collection needs are already covered.

The listed guano sell value is 15g. Selling surplus can clear stock, but compare that small immediate return with the ten-copy fertilizer requirements and five-copy gallery requirement first. Keeping a modest reserve is a planning choice; there is no need to assume every collection must be sold or processed immediately.

A useful allocation is to earmark the gallery copies, keep a complete fertilizer batch if you need one, and then decide what to do with any remainder. That leaves the next action clear when you revisit the box: collect, check your reserve, and direct the new guano toward the actual task still unfinished.
