Spectral Rain is a vial-shaped crafting material associated with Rainman loot. It is an inventory item, not a weather forecast or a crop-watering effect. Keep a copy for Orange Room painting 3 if you are completing the Art Gallery, and check your Dax, Void, and crafting needs before spending the rest.
A Rainman encounter does not guarantee a vial. Victory, a searchable reward outcome, and the item reward are separate parts of the loot process. No verified current farming route or universal Spectral Rain drop percentage is established here.
Identify Spectral Rain in your inventory
The item is described as ghostly tears stored in a vial. Its listed sell value is 200g. A listed buy value does not establish a shop that regularly stocks it, so do not plan around a vendor purchase without finding the item in an actual shop.
Several similarly named materials appear together in later recipes. Spectral Rain is separate from Eldritch Tears, Damp Dust, Godscale, and the various crystals. Match the exact ingredient name when planning a craft: the Soft Cookie recipe, for example, needs both Eldritch Tears and Spectral Rain.
Rainman encounters and older Demo instructions
The supported acquisition category is Rainman loot. In the older Demo, breaking a rain gem was the developer-described trigger for these optional enemies. That historical trigger is useful context if you are following Demo instructions, but it is not a verified current-release spawn route.
The same older explanation warned that Rainmen could be difficult at the beginning of the game. Treat that as a reason to prepare before deliberately seeking the encounter, rather than an instruction to go out every rainy day. A weather change and a Spectral Rain item appearing in your inventory are different events.
Use the combat guide if your immediate problem is surviving the battle. No reliable current-release weakness or required level is established for this encounter.
Separate a victory from the material reward
Ordinary encounter rewards can involve a corpse-search check followed by a loot die and item-specific checks. Some encounters instead have scripted or fixed rewards. A statement about the general search system therefore cannot be turned directly into a Spectral Rain drop rate.
If a completed battle gives you no vial, inspect the outcome you actually received. The material's acquisition entry points to Rainman loot, but it does not promise one Spectral Rain per corpse or one per victory. Killing several enemies in a shared encounter also does not necessarily mean several separate corpse rewards.
The corpse-too-mangled guide explains the separate search-result problem. The Luck guide covers the stat's own scope. Keep those mechanics distinct when deciding why a particular reward failed: an item being absent is not enough by itself to identify which stage caused it.
Save a vial for Orange Room painting 3

Orange Room painting 3 needs one Spectral Rain. The other entries are Godscale, Sign of Death, Beating Heart, Void Sphere, and Staring Orb. Those form one six-item collection, so completing the Spectral Rain slot does not complete the whole painting.
Check the Art Gallery collection guide before using your final vial in a recipe. The raw material is the requested submission; a fountain made with Spectral Rain does not fill its place. If collection progress is your immediate goal, earmarking one vial prevents another crafting session from consuming it.
Dax and Void uses
Spectral Rain is listed for a Dax interaction in the Sewers with Godscale in hand. Bring the named material and Godscale if this is the interaction you are pursuing. The exact current conversation sequence and reward are unconfirmed; do not assume a single vial completes every Dax objective.
The item is also consumed in The Void. A Disembodied Voice accepts one Spectral Rain or another eligible offering, with possible listed rewards including Void Sphere, Soulfruit Seed, Greater Holy Water, and Voidberry Seed. These are alternatives in the exchange, not a guaranteed bundle of four rewards.
Do not spend the last vial on that exchange if it is still reserved for the gallery or a specific craft. The choice is about allocating a limited material to the destination you want, rather than assuming that a Void interaction produces more Spectral Rain in return.
Workbench recipes using Spectral Rain
| Result | Spectral Rain cost | Other ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Water Barrel | 1 | Wood ×10 |
| Garden Fountain | 1 | Stone ×25; Brick ×2 |
| Drinking Fountain | 1 | Stone ×25; Iron Bar ×5; Gold Bar ×2 |
All three recipes are known from the start and crafted at the Workbench. The Water Barrel has the smallest companion-material list, while the two fountains require stone and construction materials. That difference is a recipe comparison, not a claim about which object is best for crop watering or resource efficiency.
Choose the actual object you want before spending the vial. No production yield or watering radius is established by these ingredient lists, so a fountain's name alone should not decide its role in your farm layout.
Craftsman's Bench and Golden Rod
| Result | Spectral Rain cost | Other ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Rod | 1 | Crafting Pattern ×2; Gold Bar ×10; Perfect Opal ×1; Godscale ×1 |
| Giant Fountain | 2 | Brick ×6; Golden Rod ×1 |
Golden Rod is a materials recipe at the Craftsman's Bench; Giant Fountain belongs to its decorative recipes. Both recipes are known from the start. If you craft the Golden Rod specifically for a Giant Fountain, that chain spends three Spectral Rain in total: one for the rod and two for the fountain. This is the sum of the two listed recipe costs, not an extra fee added by the game.
A Golden Rod already in storage changes what you still need to gather. Check for the finished ingredient before recrafting it, and reserve the two direct fountain vials separately from any gallery donation.
Equipment and cookie recipes
| Result and station | Spectral Rain | Remaining ingredients |
|---|---|---|
| Holy Bludgeon +5, Anvil | 1 | Ritual Blade +3 ×1; Staff of Insight +3 ×1; Gold Bar ×5; Void Crystal Bar ×2 |
| Ring of Vanity +4, Jeweller's Desk | 2 | Crafting Pattern ×1; Dream Crystal ×1; Wax ×15; Dual-Sprout Mushroom ×1 |
| Soft Cookie, Oven | 1 | Damp Dust ×5; Elder Flour ×2; Eldritch Tears ×1; Green Crystal ×2 |
The two equipment recipes are known from the start and listed as one-time crafts. Read the whole ingredient line before starting, since the Holy Bludgeon uses two named pieces of equipment as materials rather than only ore and a vial. The recipe list alone does not justify a damage comparison or a recommendation to consume gear you currently depend on.
Soft Cookie requires The Book of Cookies to learn its recipe. Possessing an Oven and the five ingredient types does not substitute for that recipe unlock. Spectral Rain remains only one part of the cost, and Eldritch Tears is an additional material rather than another name for the same vial.
Gift preferences and material priorities
Alice, Blorph, Celeste, and Ellie love Spectral Rain. Edwin, Josh, Molly, Sam, and Tanner like it. This gives the material a social use, but it competes with its recipes and collections; a loved reaction does not make gifting your only copy the best choice for an unfinished objective.
Use the gift guide for broader relationship planning. For this item, first identify whether you need a raw gallery copy, the Dax interaction, a Void exchange, or a named craft. Once those requirements are covered, surplus vials can become gifts or sale stock without unexpectedly blocking the material chain you were working on.
